FEUERHAND Nr. 175 NIER KEROSENE LANTERN - EXPORT VERSION
The Nier export version of the FH 175 is more difficult to locate. It was made only briefly between 1927-39. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to add
this model to my collection.
This lantern came to me painted black which at a glance, didn't look too bad. From past experience, I knew that the black paint was hiding the rust which also was preventing the burner from coming out of the insert. Once stripped, it revealed an extremely solid Feuerhand. No pin holes or leaks.
The etched Feuerhand Superbaby glass is most likely original given the markings on the globe. The globe is also in excellent condition with still very strong etching.
This FH No. 175 already has the burner introduced in 1937, where the burner hood is integrated into the glass holding plate and is still used today on the FH 276. Since the lamp still has the old tank marking, which was replaced by the new marking (fire hand logo in the banner) in 1939, the production period can be narrowed down to 1937 to 1939.
